The global market for Spruce Wood was estimated to be worth US$ 403 million in 2023 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 555.3 million by 2030 with a CAGR of 5.1% during the forecast period 2024-2030
According to the decree signed by Federal Agriculture Minister Julia Klöckner on April 14, the felling of spruce should be reduced to 85%. This applies retrospectively for the period from 1 October 2020 to 30 September 2021 – the so-called Forestry Year 2021. The basis for calculating how much timber forest companies are allowed to harvest is the years that have been harvested between 2013 and 2017, 85% of which is calculated. What is not considered is damaged wood such as bark beetle, avalanche or storm damage. Affected by the Act, timber harvesting in Germany will be subject to certain restrictions, while downstream demand for timber is still rising steadily.
